It’s almost the holidays again, and every good boy and girl will want to add The Detonator to their list this year. The folks at Parker Brothers Choppers want you to own their latest and best in electric motorcycles, and have built up from the world famous replica of the Tron Light Cycle and a their big wheel for big kids – the Green Machine. Light Cycle designer Daniel Simon, futurist and former designer for the Volkswagen brand returns to his roots with the creation of this new, all-electric motorcycle.
Check out the video for the Light Cycle, can you see this cruising through Anytown, America?
For this next rip, the Detonator concept is even more expanded. There’s a 30-inch front wheel, AND dual 96 volt electric motors in the hub of a fat ass 27 inch rear wheel. Should you choose to shell out the near or greater than $100k price tag (on sale in the US, Europe and Saudi Arabia) – you’ll reduce your carbon footprint by that much too. The bike is powered by lithium-ion batteries and charges in an hour when plugged into a 110-volt outlet – for the good to go signal. According to the folks at Parker Brothers, the bike has an 80-100 mile range fully charged, but it has seen a top speed of 120mph in tests.

So what’s the downside? Well, short people like me will have a tough time riding, as it’s a stretch for the vertically-challenged, but you can still get in what you need to if you’re up for it. “It is not the easiest bike to ride, but at 11.5 feet long it’s still rideable and fast as well,” said Jeff Halverson, operations manager at Parker Brothers.”
So you say you don’t have that $100, 000 for the Detonator this Christmas? Amid recessionary downturns, you can always visit the Hammacher Schlemmer catalog and order the Light Cycle or the Green Machine. Yep…it’s in there. And the world never stops amazing me.
